Successfully implementing digital transformation

Digital transformation as a concept and practice has reached mainstream consciousness in the country. Even SMEs have started to plan for it, with execution slated in the coming year. But implementation and execution have been the sore thumb, where various systems do not talk to each other, and employees resist changes presented to them.

This is why the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) through the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Committee in partnership with BPM Vision Philippines, hosted an executive event entitled “Successfully Implementing Digital Transformation” held last Oct. 11, 2018 at Shangri-La, The Fort.

The event primarily sought to raise awareness for the internationally well-established practice of Project Portfolio Management (PPM), which enables companies to enhance strategic capability to deliver enterprise programs of work in alignment to executive goals and provides C-Level or high ranking executives with accurate, comprehensive and timely data from across the enterprise which are needed to make important decisions.

The guest speakers included Mark Bavaresco, head of Investment Data and Insights at ANZ Bank — one of the largest banks in Australia and New Zealand– who spoke about how he led the transformational journey of the bank adopting portfolio governance across 10,000 users in 26 counties. There was also Elizabeth Francisco, a senior executive at one of the largest local banks and lecturer at the UP Center for Technology who spoke about how the enterprise project portfolio management (PPM) capability is so fundamental to the success of digital transformation that is disrupting various industries.

Both speakers emphatically demonstrated how the practice of PPM helps executives deliver the changes in today’s fast changing environment to the organization and the board. Atty. Mark Gorriceta from the ICT Committee of FINEX ably hosted and moderated the event.

It is important to recognize the relevance of change management in any organizational transition such as digital transformation. Organizations like BPM Vision work together with a company’s internal team to ensure that employees understand and embrace the changes brought about by new organization initiatives across business and IT.
